What would happen if they knew?

Question

This has made me go crazy thinking of possibilities. But still... Okay, so back in Elizabethan times or really anytime where male heirs have been preferred to female heirs to a throne, what would have happened if everyone knew that it was the male genetics that determined if the child was male or female? If everyone knew. I mean, they killed females for not producing a male heir, but what if everyone knew it was the guy's 'fault' as to the gender of their child? Would they replace their king because HE couldn't produce a male heir?

I think they would belive it as an omen towards revealation or blame it on the gods. And for that the king would be replace and female sacrificed. However id dont know there are people with more knowledge of this oasis.

In many cases, the king just adopted a male child and anointed him with the right of succession.

They tended not to make decisions based on reason and logic.  Rather, they adhered to the current social norms which relegated females to a secondary role.

So, no, the king would not have been replaced.
