  1. Our economy would take a massive hit.  We would essentially be putting ourselves in another depression.  I don't think anyone wants that.  Consumption is a good thing.  It makes the economy run.

  2. If that happened CorporateAmerica would find a way to make up for it. Make people work 12 hour days for the same pay as 10 hours. The black market would thrive, people want their luxuries. The US would lose even more world market share. But I like it anyway, I could use the rest.

  3. The earth would get much needed rest.

  4. The coountry would grind to a halt/

  5. It'd be cool!

  6. As I work in the care industry I have to ask, "What happens to the sick in hospitals, those who need fire or ambulance services, and those who like the people I care for cannot get out of bed or do over things for themselves?"

As a female I have to ask, "who would feed and look after the children too young to tend themselves, or the domesticated farm, zoo and pet animals?"

You might not see caring as work but believe me IT IS!

  7. i don't think people could handle it... it might save a lot of energy tho

  8. The mad rush will stop for one day!

  9. The world would be chaotic

We rely on our technology too much nowadays

  10. Some-one would rob and destroy it all.  I'd probably join in.

  11. Nothing.  Things still need to get done.

  12. nothing it would all just start up again the next day

  13. You mean FORCE all people to stop what they are doing? Not allow them to drive to the hospital if they are sick or injured? Not allow doctors to come to work? Not allow electricity generating plants to operate, not allow the workers to drive to the generating plants to operate them? Not allow water pumps to run? Ships at sea much shut down all engines for 24 hours where ever they are? And If I choose to get in my car and drive to a park 10 miles away, who will stop me? All the police are home and the police cars are parked.

So what does this do? Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 1/30? So the north pole melts in 103 years instead of in only 100 years?

    So get real.

  14. I am supposing that you  do mean Everything.........

I dread the thought of no electricity or hot water. I guess thats just how much I take these things for granted. I don't think I would want to tolerate this for even one day.

  15. I don't think it would be safe if one day a month, fire engines and police cars would be at a halt.  If you break a leg, do you just wait until the next day to go to the hospital or call an ambulance?  No flying organs in for an essential transplant?  All factories would grind to a halt for 24 hours, which would lead to increased costs to start them up again.  There wouldn't be anything on TV since there has to be someone at the station monitoring satellite signals to receive programming.  Farmers couldn't tend to their livestock (on most farms these days, you have to drive to get to the animals).  You couldn't even go to the store to buy a carton of milk.  Basically, for one day a month you want to go back to the year 1847.

I think it's an exceptionally stupid idea.

  16. You couldn't shut everything down, there are to many industrial processes that would be ruined, power stations going mental, hospitals without staff etc etc. It would be chaos.
