  1. There would be larger landfills piled with trash and more trees would be cut down

  2. *tears* our earth would crash because there would be too much waste and too many dumps. also there would have to be more trees cut down

  3. There will be more trash and our landfills will just go bigger much faster and we also polute the environment more faster.

  4. We'd be knee deep in our waste in no time, and resources down the line would become more scarce. In addition, recycling programs cost less to operate than waste collection, landfilling, and incineration. So it would affect the bottom line, too.

  5. If we stopped recycling the landfills would definitely become harder to manage, and yes we would run out of useable land space. But more importantly, it would lead to a disposable mindset, where we are thoughtless about our actions, and their consequences. There are consequences to all of our actions, even if we deny or fail to see them. To become a throw away society is back tracking. It's not moving forward. It is a disrespect for this beautiful land of ours, and for the effort it takes to earn everything we re throwing away. Eventually we'd run out of resources. Some major metropolises burn most of their Garbage, but that leaches harmful fumes into the environment. I would imagine that disease would also increase, as well, since vermin and insects which spread disease go along with trash. The question should be, What would happen if we started forcing people to recycle, by making them pay per pound for the trash they throw away.
