What would happen if you waxed the bottom of a surfboard?

u would look like an idiot and it would slow you down, and there is no point in doing it either

You'd have extra drag and slow your board down.  If your surfing waves that have some speed and power it probably won't matter too much.  If you're surfing softer, slower stuff it may keep you from catching anything.
