  1. You will not be AWOL.

You will be an Unauthorized Absence (UA).

Either way, you will incur a penalty for not reporting, which could mean loss of benefits and favorable civilian employment.

  2. You would be caught and placed in the stockade.

  3. You must swear in a second time (the time before you ship out) to be subject to UCMJ. You will still be in trouble, but not much. However, if you go AWOL after that second swear in and are gone for longer than a month, you are no longer AWOL. You are a deserter, which is punishable by death, during war time.

Either way, I highly suggest you do NOT go AWOL.

  4. I take who ever you are talking is in the delayed entry program.  And if you dont want to be in anymore dont.  nothing will happen.

  5. If you are in the DEP, nothing. If you swear in the second time at MEPS and then bail...........THAT would be a huge problem

  6. You'll get a nice shining pair of bracelets for your wrist, as a reward

  7. AWOL is an acronym for Absent WithOut Leave.  You cannot be in a "leave" status until such time that you are in a position that it may be granted to you.  Leave is a pay status.  Since you aren't being paid at this time, you cannot be AWOL.

What it appears that you are speaking of is if there are any lasting penalties for abdicating your promise to enlist after a specified time in the delayed entry program.  The answer is no.  The only impact is your inability to link with any other service until you are administratively released by the holding service (the one you were originally working with).
