the bird would be in a space habitat with no gravity and would not be used to it. how would it move around? if it depends on gravity to fly?

  1. not a right lot but spin for 30 seconds and then die

  2. Birds  depends  on the gravity to fly..

So when a bird is to fly in the space it will also float like how humans float but it also survives on oxygen and also the birds on earth are able to fly against the gravity depending on the gravity they overcome the force and fly accordingly, the same is happening with us also even we over come the gravity force and put our force to walk ,,jump etc......

If there is no gravity it is obvious that we will fly like birds .

The most important thing is that if birds have to fly in the space then they too need to wear a space suit.

If they don't then they will also die like how we die when we don't wear the space suit.

All the living beings on this earth if they travel to space they will all float but they all require space suits to survive coz all dependent on the gravity and oxygen.

  3. I am not a bird but I am a light aircraft pilot and ... probably the closest to a bird one can be.

We assume, of course, that the bird would have a spacesuit or something that will prevent it to die.

Then we assume that there is not only no gravity but no atmosphere. The bird then can move his wings but will get nowhere.

If there is an atmosphere, the bird will move in it. But since there is no gravity, our bird will have to learn to fly not to overcome both drag and gravity but only drag. And that requires another wing movement aimed at forward motion. Otherwise our poor bird will 'climb' all the time.

... now, I can't figure out how one can have an atmosphere without gravity but ... for the sake of the argument, let's imagine that it is in a big spaceship containing the said atmosphere.

If it was my aircraft flying in the same environment, I would also have to get the nose down in order to stay at 'level.' But then ... what's 'level' when in zero-gravity?

  4. Birds don't exactly 'depend on' gravity to fly. True, they're accustomed to its presence, but I think a bird would fairly quickly adapt to the new conditions and learn to use its wings just for propulsion, rather than propulsion and lift. The sensation of falling would be new to them, but I think they'd adapt to that also.

  5. Birds have reacted pretty well to experiments in micro-gravity on parabolic flights. It takes them not as long as humans to adapt to microgravity, though not as fast as rats adapt.

  6. i think it would be some great youtube material :D

  7. it would be disorientated, but i am sure like all organisms (including humans) it would eventually adjust to its new envrionment.

think about people in no gravity, they have to practice for a long time to learn how to move about and perfrom tasks. and even then its still a new experence when they frist get into space.

  8. it'll go crazy
