What would happen to my decomposing body?

Say that, in an elevated westward facing house with no AC and huge windows... that got to the 80s in temperature on summer days, but was cold on winters (freezing at night), that I died in the Summer of 2000 in my room... as a 16 year old clothed in my skater clothes... on the floor... What would the condition of the body and the room/items be in today.... just under 8 years later.

How about If I had died 4 years later in the summer of 2004 in the same identical environment, but of course at the age of 20? would the age and halved time span make much difference?

Or would it be pretty much the same as a result of "LONG TIME A GONE"

  1. You will just turn into dust. That's all I'm sure of.

  2. Probably both cases would leave nothing but a skeleton in clothing.

The house may protect against scavengers but not against insects.  Blowflies and similar species would "smell" the rotting muscle.

In addition, the freezing of the remaining cells during the winter months would cause the individual cells to burst making it easier for micro-organisms to feast once the spring thaw began each year.

  3. You would be eaten by bugs in a couple of days.

If there are no bugs, then you would probably be eaten by microorganisms.

if none of those, you would, turn blue(Livor mortis) , go through rigor mortis and 3 other things...Good luck!

  4. I had a job related circumstance once where we located a missing person in the desert southwest. The remains were quite scattered from scavengers of course. But what surprised me was the big grease stain left on the ground where the body was. I thought, 'Well yeah, I guess humans are pretty greasy.'

  5. what an odd question... did you kill somebody and just left the carcass in your basement?

  6. Insect food unless you had a dog or cat in the house with you.

Thought of a cat in that situation:  You were a really good owner but....waste not, want not.

My friend was a female cop who got all the bad calls (for some reason) so she found all the old dead bodies.  She said that the body will become one with whatever it is against. She found one in a chair and the chair and body had to be removed together.  She almost shot the body because the first thing she saw was the gun the man had used to kill himself.  Moral of the story, don't show a cop your gun.

  7. All I can say for whoever finds you, is...P  U  !!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Your body will have been picked up by The Collectors, ground up and converted to a nutritious food base which would have been distributed to various fast food outlets.
