  2. People would not be able to invest in companies, and this is how companies expand. Any major company that really wants to expand its business needs to be floated on a stock exchange so people can invest in it.

  3. That would be impossible.  Unless it became a government controlled economy somehow.

    That's like saying, "How can people buy food if there is no food market?"  Well, some farmer would obviously rent a space in a town to sell his food and the market would inevitably be created.  Same thing for a stock market.  As long as there is a free market there will be a stock market.

  4. Companies would find it rather difficult to get the money needed to expand without stock market investors...
