  1. If there is no light, there is nothing to reflect. Your eyes would never see. You probably would be wondering why you have two wierd organs under your forehead.

  2. they would become useless.

you would never be able to use em, and your pupils would constantly be dialated, so you would go blind.

and even if they did still work, they wouldnt be able to adjust to changing light. which means when thew came into light, especially bright light, they yould be messed up and not work.

prisoners have gone blind from being kept in dark dungeons for too long.

not too sure of the science behind it all, but hope it helps.

    :)

  3. Check out this study:

Basically, scientists took baby Grotto Salamanders and kept one group of them in constant darkness and another group in constant light.  The group kept in the dark had smaller eyes, degeneration of eye colour ("epithelial pigment"), and impaired eye movement ("optomotor responses").

I guess my answer isn't significantly different from some of the others', but at least you now have a source for your info.  Good luck on the book!

  4. if you were in the dark, completely dark, from birth your eyes would never fully develop sight. Just as a child born with cataracts can not develop eyesight due to nothing getting to the brain.
