  1. Texas would have stayed Mexican, Santa Anna ceded Texas  to the Texans after his defeat at San Jacinto.


  2. Everything would be exactly as it is now, it just would have taken the U.S. government longer to find a way to take land from Mexico. Manifest Destiny meant that our government was going to take everything from the Atlantic to the Pacific no matter how many poor Indians and Mexicans they had to steal from or kill. The imperialist attitude would not stop just because one battle did or did not take place.
