You must contact your local ATF office and get the paper application.

For what reason? If you want to open your own store, you need an 01 FFL. If you only want to collect older weapons, you need an 03, and so on.

In ant event the BATFE is where you start.

You need to apply at ATF and meet certain conditions (like you should be 21 years old or more; has not willfully violated the Gun Control Act ) in order for your FFL to be approved.

You also need to pay a fee depending on the type of FFL license that you're applying for. The fee for a Type 1 Dealer License is $200.00 for the first 3 years.
