You need a passport now.  They changed the laws just recently.  You might want to bring your birth certificate with you just for more backup.

If you FLY to Mexico, you need a passport...this has been the law for over a year.  If you travel by LAND or SEA, you do NOT need a pssport yet...date has not been set for that requirement to be implemented. See site below and read top half of page carefully  for current, correct ifo. Check this site from time ti time ans new announcements are always put here first.  See second site for all passport application info if you need one.  And  the charge for a passport is the same as always...even tho one answerer said "they are charging a lot" right now!...No they are charging the regular $97.00 fee.

I agree with Dawn. They have changed the law recently..now it's all passport now. If I were you I'll get one quick...right now they're charging alot of money just to make one. Good luck and have a wonderful trip to mexico.
