I have heard that we can only see about 30 frames per second. What would it look like if we could see double the rate? If you move a pencil fast enough up and down in your hand it gives the illusion that it is bending. Will it look the same with 60fps? Would you maybe see a bullet move?

  1. We would need twice the processing power and information storage to make use of the higher frame rate.

Where do we get that upgrade?  If we didn't get that upgrade, we'd have to trade off foveal, color or peripheral vision.

One disadvantage would be that the current generation of TVs would not be compatible with the 60 fps rate and we'd see dark lines across the TV.

Anther advantage could be that when you are subject to vibrations (such as on a gravel road or when sitting on a massage/vibrating cushion), the view will be smooth instead of blurry.

  2. if we can see at 60 fps then the speed will appear to the mind to be half and we can judge the movement better. seeing a bullet will not be possible and aout your encil example, the illusion will be there but you have to double the speed of the pencil. hope this helps. bye.
