What would it be like to be in an aurora?

I know they have to do with solar wind the earth's magnetic poles, but what if you were inside of one? What would it be like?

in my imagination it would be like being inside a kaleidoscope. it would be noisy like crackling and rustling and if you can imagine what electric silk would feel like it would be awesome.
