  1. Living in Mexico is MUCH cheaper than living in California...IF you are retired with a pension...or IF you are wealthy and do not need to work.  YOU  CANNOT work in Mexico without a work visa and these are nearly impossible to get.  Then, wages in Mexico are 1/10 what they are in the U.S.  Moving to Mexico before you are retired is not practical.

  2. very expensive

  3. I would say California is more expensive, but the pay is higher. A lot of Mexico has poor quality of life (not all, but some) and it relies on tourism to run its economy. I would say California is the way to go:)

  4. I hope this is not a middle aged woman asking this question

get a grip and stay home

  5. If you have mexican citizenship or you're married to a mexican and thus you could be eligible to permanent residence (aka easy trip to a mexican working visa), you could get a job in Mexico.

Living in California USA is very expensive. You HAVE to live somewhere in the state for 6 months before even being able to rent an apartment if you plan on moving to LA (yes, very stoopid rules but they are true). Rent in LA is inhumanely expensive and you'll have to use a car for everything (I didn't find the bus services in LA to be that great).

Living in Mexico on a pension can be very cheap (just imagine how much money you'd save on doctors here in comparison to the US, dentist treatments are only 10% the cost of what they cost in the US). Buying a piece of land and building a small house could cost you less than 20,000 dollars if you don't mind living in the countryside. Even in Mexico City buying a house can be cheap if you don't move to an uber expensive neighborhood like Santa Fe or Las Lomas.

Before moving here, consider travelling to Mexico, it's a huge country and visiting many places, not just Cancun. You will need to learn spanish, but it isn't rocket science and many mexicans can speak some english so you'll be able to get around while you learn spanish. I learned spanish in a bit more than 1 year (but I was a kid). My dad could learn the language as an adult and speaks it pretty well albeit somewhat slowly.
