What would it take for the 2008 elections to be cancelled and/or postponed?

  1. If the current President declares a new war, this would postpone elections.  Don't be surprised if Bush doesn't try to pull this one on Russia.


  2. A total breakdown of national government and society.  The national elections are called for (directly and indirectly) in the Constitution.  They were held in WW II and even during the Civil War (in the states that at the time composed the Union).

  3. Maybe if Obama caught a cold.

  5. World War III (if even that). Do you realize how much money elections cost and how much more it would cost to move it?

  6. Nothing. According to the constitution, the President can only hold office for 2, 4 year terms.

  7. NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST! Ahem, I mean a nuclear holocaust would probably cause the elections to be canceled.
