What would it take for the American people to stop the war in Iraq if the majority wanted it to stop?

I thought the government serves the people, so shouldn't this be an easy thing to do?

  1. Same as the Vietnam war...when the fragging gets heavy...the war will miraculously stop.

From the beginning of the war, The American people have tried seriously to stop the war in Iraq, And we, the Iraqi people wanted the same, however, this needs continuous struggle to stop the blood shedding of this  war, to take every peaceful steps  to stop it and save the life of the humans, then to  build a real strong relationship between our two nations..This would take nothing if we  realize that humanity is more precious than anything in this world.

    They almost overturned Congress in the last Congressional election, but it appears that the current president doesn't think any laws apply to him.  Or, at least, he thinks that the war powers act gives him powers most of us don't agree with.
