Question:

What would make a goat's upper lip swell?

I have a young (4 months old) goat who I just saw had a swollen upper lip. It hurts, so she won't eat and she can't breath through her nose easily. Some one said that it might be a bee sting, but I couldn't find where it could have stung her. She did get into some moldy food this morning and I was wondering if she would be having an allergic reaction, but it's only her upper lip. Can any one help?

  1. Probably some kind of a bite or sting. Keep an eye out and get her medical attention if the swelling persists or gets worse.
