What would make a man work til he earned 53 bil?

Why would anyone want to still work after making 1 billion dollars. What more can you buy

Perhaps you are a humanitarian and want to keep producing the new aids vaccine you developed.

On the flip side, once you get that rich, something you've done has worked, and why not keep earning more? People who get that rich tend to be workaholics or may have invested so well that their wealth just multiplies itself.

If they have too much, I'll take some!

He wouldn't be a billionaire if he had any different attitude about budgeting, saving, smart investing and a tactful mentality.  It's just like anything else like for example dieting-- anyone can lose weight if they have a healthy and consistent diet along with exercise but it takes a strong minded and willed individual to stick with it.  So my point being this man didn't become a billionaire over night it took years and years of investing, saving, budgeting and having a tactful mindset to acquire that status. and but at the same time your cost of living expense keeps going up which in turn takes a bite out of what you wanted to save so he has to keep that stash replenished to maintain.  Remember this also, once  a person makes it in this expensive world and was once BROKE you will never want to go back into that status again.

It can become obsessive, making loads and loads  -  and for some people there might be the greed factor.  Or perhaps he really enjoys what he does, and it's not like work, but it happens to be successful anyway.  And not everyone wants to retire at 25.

You appear to think they work to buy stuff.  

I think they work because they enjoy it (their work).  Many people enjoy their work - the challenge, the sense of purpose, the interaction with co-workers, etc.
