This is the first time I have had to come up with favors for a bridal shower and I am getting a headache. I dont want to pick something no one will like but I also want it to be tasteful and simple. Have any suggestions? Thankyou Lisa

Just a few ideas to get you thinking. :)

  2. Bridal shower favor? The Wedding Industry is really up to its usual hi-jinx of presenting yet another flimsy excuse to demand that you buy something. The idea is for loot to flow FROM the guests TO the bride. The host provides cookies and punch, silly games, and sillier prizes -- think 99 cent store and Salvation Army. Enough prizes that EVERY guest gets a prize, even it's for being third tallest or wearing a green dress.

Don't try to hold a miniature of the reception. Traditionally a  shower is a super-casual 60 minute to drop off a gift and nibble cookies and soft drinks; when escalated to something "more elegant" it looks like an attempt to escalate the scale of gift giving. If the host really WANTS to give the bride an elegant meal then leave the 'shower' part out of it and host a luncheon or tea -- that way it doesn't look like you're "fishing" for more expensive presents.

Or, instead of using the money to act as host just give it directly to the bride or the couple. Don't count on "investing" in a shower and getting back more value than you put into it. Spend only as much as you truly want to spend like a gift, not with any thought of return on the investment.

  3. Try getting something practical even if it's just placecard holders that guests can use later to put a picture. You can find some practical favors at www.giasweddingstore.com or www.orientaltrading.com.

  4. - Candle Set

    - Wine Bottles

    - Bath Sets ( i totally love them )

    - Totes

  6. My sister's shower is coming up in a few weeks and we ordered some cute little compact mirrors.  They came in the other day and they look great.

  7. 1. WINE BOTTLES- Buy label makers at Staples or Office Depo & put a pic of you & your fiance or your names & put them on wine bottles or apple cider for people who don't drink.

2.CD'S- You can burn some songs on a cd that will play at the wedding

    like..                1.First dance

2.A couple of your favorite songs

                           3. the last song that will play at wedding

3.PICTURE FRAMES- You & your fiance could take a digital camera take a few different pictures of yourselves (so that everyone at the party doesn't get the same picture) & put them in picture frames for the guests. (AT THE DEPT. STORE ROSS THEY SELL BEAUTIFUL PICTURE FRAMES AT A COST FROM OTHER STORES).

I HOPE THIS HELPS GOOD LUCK & CONGRATS ON FINDING THAT SPECIAL SOMEONE TO SPEND THE REST OF YOUR LIFE WITH!!

  8. I know this is for a bridal shower...but I'll tell you what I'm doing for my wedding favors and I think they would be great for a shower too! For my wedding on a boat I went out and bought tons of nautical themed cookie cutters....anchors, ships wheels, lighthouses, etc..all to match the "theme". They were all the silver cookie cutters....no colors, no plastic. I took them each out of any wrappers, if any, and stuffed the inside with individually wrapped candies. I then wrapped a white tulle around them and bunched it at the top tieing it with a ribbon that matched my wedding colors. If you like this idea...remember, cookie cutters can get pricy believe it or not. Some places sell them for more than $3 a piece. The cheapest place I've found them are at:

Some are as low at $.90 where I would find the same cookie cutter somewhere else for $2 more. It's a legit place...it's where I bought mine. Very fast delivery too!

  9. tea lights, coffee/tea sample size in mug, small picture frame, small bath item such as bath beads, candy wrapped up nicely
