What would make a written note beautiful?

I wrote one of my friends a card and thanked them for everything they've done for me. When they saw me they told me the note I wrote was beautiful.

What would make a note "beautiful"?

First of all, your handwriting.  Secondly, the wording you chose to thank them.  Yours obviously wasn't a generic type of thank you.  While reading it, your friend really felt like it came from your heart.  Therefore, it was beautiful.

The fact that you took the time and effort to write down your appreciation for this person. You must have written it from the heart and been sincere and it obviously hit home. Well done :)

I believe it is the sentiment that is beautiful.  People often do not really let others know how important they are in your life.  It was very sweet and kind of you.  That makes you a beautiful person.  :-)
