  1. I went to a store that sold wheelchairs, made braces, had canes,

    etc.

My doctor told me to purchase a thing that goes around my

back. I do not know what it is called.  It is made of stretchable

fabric, and you put it around your back and it has that

sticky ends that stick together. It is a light brown fabric.

Wow, I am talking like a child.

I got mine at community surgical.

    It truly helps me.

Working in a auto rebuild shop, I can just imagine how your back hurts.

You could have a herniated disk and not know it.

Why not make an appointment with the doctor, and find out?

Seriously, check it out. You may be doing more damage to your back, and not know it.  I do not mean to scare you.

I was carrying papers and my high heel shoe got stuck in the door

bottom ledge, so when the door shut, it pushed me down on the floor.

It did not hurt at the time, but the next morning the pain was there.

You can hurt your disks in your back and not even know it, especially with the job you are doing.

    Better safe than sorry.

I am just like you, I do not want to take pain medication.

  2. You are probably lifting things wrong.  You have to lift with your legs, or your back may get sore.

Also, for someone who is doing that all day, a firmer mattress would probably help.  (if you have a really cushy one)

  3. Hot soaks, ice packs, massage, exercise to stretch and loosen the tight muscles can help, but not offer immediate relief.

You can buy a vibrating, or shiatsu massage device, with heat, at a drug store that can help relax the tight muscles.

Back pain is tough to treat.
