You can call it teen adventure, fantasy-style.

You can tell them that though Patterson didn't write the books himself, he did give the writers his outlines for them.

Or you could have a person follow the link below, (they may have to hit 'Proceed to site' --I had to on my last visit) and link to Maximum Ride to read a bit about the books, but mainly also to watch the brief and pretty interesting video Patterson had made to sell these books.
