I am home-schooled and every year we have a state testing to tell us where we are ( learning wise) anyways, we aren't graded by a's or b's we are graded like the in the percent zones? so If i got 96 percent ( meaning only 4 people got higher than me) what would my GPA be? thanks!

  1. This is not the percent of the test you did well on. This is your PERCENTILE, and it's quite good. However, you can't determine your grade point average if you don't have grade points. GPA has nothing to do with the annual test you take. It has to do with the grade you were given in each subject. I, too, do not have grades in the traditional sense. We just stick with a subject until it's been mastered. No squeaking by with only a D in math. If I don't fully understand something, if I can't demonstrate this understanding, I don't move on to the next topic until I can, so in a sense I only have A's which would mean I have a 4.0 GPA. You don't necessarily need to know your GPA or even have one, but you need to be able to explain what sort of system you and your parents use to determine your "grade" or how well you're doing. This is your grading system, and if it isn't the traditional sort, you will likely need to explain it to universities that you apply to. Poke me in Email if you have any more questions or need some tips.

  2. 96% doesnt necessarily mean that 4 people got better than you.  that would only be the case if 100 people were tested and no scores were doubled up.
