What would my parents' roles be in terms of me attaining top secret clearance?

Would their character, credit rating, etc., have any affect on me even though I haven't lived with them in more than 10 years and we've been in separate states in that time frame? Also, could they get in trouble if something was found out about them during the process?

  1. I believe that they are going to be interviewed about YOUR character.   They're record and situation won't be investigated. With the possible exception of them revealing something illegal in the process.  Mostly the person or agency who is approving your clearance is wanting to see if they know something about YOU, that you haven't revealed so they can investigate it.  Like if you have an alias you used to live under.  Or the time you got drunk and launched your neighbors cat out of a spud gun, ya he didn't call the cops so the investigator wouldn't have otherwise known about it.

    anyway good luck.
