People bash the US all the time and it makes me wonder, what if there was never a US. Bash this question if you like with your negative opinions i have some myself =) but when you think further back, from NASA to WW2 to the Civil rights movement, how would a non existent United States change our history, our WORLD history?

  1. the USA is the problem with the world. They cant keep their nose out of anything especially iraq and their oil. They also eat a lot and are the reason for obesity in the world.Nearly all fast food restaurants are american.I blame USA for pretty much everything thats wrong.

  2. It’s quite natural for anyone to be proud of their own country and its historic culture.  All countries have contributed in some manner to the present mosaic of the world.  It is also true that in some circles it has become the accepted thing to say negative things about the United States even when not true.

All countries have areas which are negative (in retrospect) and which currently require improvement.  Most of those problems within the United States can be placed as being removed from the founding policies of the Constitution.  Even so, there are some positive elements that have resulted from the unique construct of the United States and these too can be sourced as originating from its Constitutional Founding.

First must be the continuing evolution of individual freedom development which is uniquely sourced in the historic culture of the British Isles of Celtic Village Law first formalized in Magna Carta.  Few places in the world have expanded this franchise to as many peoples as has occurred within the United States.

Nor has this franchise (in most places) been as inclusive of the individual being in control of their own financial future as in the United States and this has been significant in the development of new technology unmatched in either degree or diversity that exists in the rest of the world.

With all of its many internal challenges the United States has been (in only a few places) the primary wall between peoples and ethnic cleansings.  It would be very easy for the United States to remove itself from these stupid conflicts.  The United States is not involved for land, because it typically walks away and takes no ownership.  Although popular opinion (so often wrong) says otherwise, it isn’t for oil.  The United States could quire easily become energy independent in that it has more than enough oil and coal to take care of all needs for at least two hundred years, without even considering other sources.  Just imagine that if the United States became totally energy independent, economies around the world would collapse.

Just consider what would happen if the United States no longer tried (even selectively) to minimize ethnic cleansing the absolute flood of blood that would occur on the world stage.  As bad as it is in many countries, just consider those countries (including Saudi Arabia)  that would return to the enslavement of women.  Just consider the countries (including those of West such as Ireland) the that would intensify Religious killings.

The United States is surely not perfect, but neither is it the evil giant that some here would make it out to be.  It is easy to discern from the answers here to whom individual rights are most important.

Some here who are not native to the United States may not be aware that there is a growing movement (within the United States) to pull out of the rest of the world.  Be careful, you may get exactly for what you are asking.

  3. The world would be more peaceful.

Now the US is threatening the world with WW3. Lovely.

  4. Oh, yes! I wonder if the French revolution would have taken place, religious persecution in Europe would have gone on for centuries, famines and more wars....

Europe would be much different than it is now - great question!

  5. well most americans originated FROM EUROPE.

lol I'm half German, and french.

    explain how that happened hmm?

    i live in the USA.

    not so proud blame bush,,,

  6. riddleking2008 summed it up for me :)

I would like to add, though: The world would be so much more peaceful. You yanks can't keep your noses out of other people's business, then wonder why they get angry with you and point nuclear warheads in your direction. This in turn annoys us Brits because we are then also threatened because, unfortunately, we are your closest allies... :\

Oh yes. The world would be much better off.

  7. Interesting question. I think a lot of the scientific advances would have come from Europe anyway since most of the US are descended from European colonists. Maybe the innovations would not have happened as quickly though since Europe was economically crippled after the first world war. America's intervention in the wars and its advocacy for self determination greatly helped speed up the efforts to secure peace in Europe.

However other than that I don't think the world would be in a much worse state than it is at the moment. Human rights movement would have went on regardless and Great Britain in particular was a big hotspot for Asian and African immigration. In fact the UK is a far more multicultural society today than the US.

  8. Wow! Some people are REALLY jealous of us. Why else would they "hate us yanks!"

Alexis, you're going to get a lot of sh*t like this. I agree with you that the freedom we enjoy here has made for an environment conducive to learning, experimenting and developing great things. The Space Program benefits our daily lives everywhere!

Just remind them how they keep fighting each other and, when their backs are against the wall, they call us hated yanks to save them...

The World would be much worse off without us. We're not perfect - but if we were so bad - why are people breaking the law and/or risking their lives to get in?

They're bashing you - bash back.
