My family and I are going to florida for a last minute family vacation. My sister's and my passports are expired and my mom said that we can just use our student i.d.'s. I'm not really sure that they would give us our plane tickets if we use our students i.d.'s instead of a passport or a driver liscense. I want to know if a student i.d. is considered a government issue photo i.d. and if we can use it.

  1. They would probably accept it.

However, as of last month the TSA relaxed its "must have" rules about ID.  If your ID is not acceptable, they will take you through "enhanced screening" which means they take you aside, ask you to fill out a form, then run your name through their database, possibly screen your baggage more thoroughly.  They said it will take about fifteen minutes.

  2. A student i.d. is not a government issued i.d. A state i.d. or driver's license is.

  3. Maybe if you are going to one of the service academies(Army,Navy,Air Force).
