Question:

What would rail road spikes be considered as far as scrap steel?

I have a 20 mile section of rail road track behind my house that was recently completely re-done, and the company just threw the spikes on the sides of the tracks, I have contacted them, and they have no intentions of retrieving them, or any problems with me taking them,

my question is, if I was to collect enough to sell to a scrap yard, what would the old rusty spikes be considered as far as product?

the spikes are about a half inch thick and about 5-6 inches long, they are rusted on the outside, but pure steel on the inside,...

what type of scrap would this be classified as and

what would a scrap yard be liable to pay for these if i was to take them in by the ton,

  1. its considered #1 steel price depends on scrap yard what they willing to pay

  2. I agree get something in writing and the metal would be probably be considered a #1 HMS.  For pricing try http://www.scrapmetalpricesandauctions.c...

  3. you can use the spikes to kill demons thru their heart

  4. The spikes are mild steel or iron.

Do be sure to get something on paper from the R.R.

or you can be accused of theft.

(If the R.R. didn't consider them worth scrapping,

you might be disappointed in the return you get

    for your labor.)

  5. I would get someones name and / or a letter stating that.
