Other than the typical answer of so many women dying due to illegal abortions, what would really be the consequence of outlawing abortion?

  1. historically....we don't know when women started having abortions.  We have instructions on how to preform an Egyptian abortion, the ingredients for what roman women drink to have one.  So it was before their times.....

Roe vs Wade didn't invent abortions they made them safer.

You can walk into a heath food store or a vitamins place and purchase blue cosh (sp) today....and have an abortion.

They wont stop legal or not.

  2. look to history. it was illegal at one time, before 1973. women would still get them. there would be more deaths. illegal "kitchen table" abortions would be the nightmare of choice, more child abuse from having unwanted kids. more babys left in dumptsers,  and sadly, those people who are against abortion still would not be stepping up to help raise these unwanted children. they seem to feel that their job is done once they prevent the  termination of the pregnacy. their concern is simply for the fetus. not the child after it is born. why doesnt anyone ever address this issue.?

  3. God got headache and the h**l have no enough space for the Sinners.

  4. One thing it wouldn't do is lead to more careful birth control, that's one reason why the law is there in the first place.

It's pretty putrid that what gets in most people's minds is 'welfare spending', this type of jibber jabber rolls off the lips of some people like an off-the-peg suit. And it's tiresome.

Just a note to Kessie, many doctors offered sympathetic services for free, at the risk of being struck off, and not just female doctors either.

  5. In the U.S.? If Roe v. Wade were struck down, the "blue" states already have state legislation in place making abortion legal by state law. Most of the "red" states have the opposite...legislation in place that would make abortion illegal according to state law.

So assuming there were no federal law passed criminalizing abortion on a national level, women in left-leaning states would still be able to get abortions, and women in right-leaning states who wanted abortions would have to catch trains north and east in order to get them.

  6. Well besides women dying due to illegal abortions; which sounds like you see that as trivial as long as you can save a few fetus.  The foster homes/orphanages would be overcrowded and not enough people could donate money so that all of them could go to school.  Child abuse would increase as forced parents (ones who should never have kids) would be forced to deal with kids they don't want and that leaves hate and animosity. Welfare and Wic would be pressed harder then ever to support low income women being forced to have children they can not support.  Dead beats would rise as most women who have abortions have decided this is not the right time for them or that the father is going to be out of the picture.   Is this revenge for men not having a say whether they want to father a child?  They will now make sure that women will not have a choice either?

Why do you people care about saving the lives of unborn fetus' that you don't want to raise and that you don't want to donate money to assist in actually being able to live.  I agree with George Carlin Pro-Life is Anti-Women. Our world will always be over populated with people choosing to have children because we love them; why not let women choose whether or not they are ready to do so.

  7. "Other than the typical answer... women dying..." isn't outrageous and unacceptable enough for you?  well then, let's see.  Just like in the OLD days, countries that offer the option will see an increase in their doctors' life styles, an increase in air travel and lodging.  This applies of course, to the ones that don't butcher the women - word gets around you know...

For the ones without the money to spend a week in Mexico, they'll probably just resort to doing the job themselves - mostly just mutilating or killing themselves in the process.

Does that do it for ya?

  8. People would start using birth control pills and condoms to park under the moonlight.

  9. In my country was illegal until last year, and yet, only on capital city is legal. Well, lot of girls recurred to illegal practices. My mom did, Indeed. In the way I see, her regrets are related in big part, with how the medical system made her felt about her moral situation.

  10. There would probably be more unwanted children.

  11. The number of abortions would decrease. They would still happen, of course, but people would be much more careful about avoiding unplanned pregnancy. Fewer unborn children would die.

I actually don't agree with making abortion illegal, even though I'm pro-life, for the very reason that more women would die or be injured as a result of an illegal abortion. For now, I think the legal time limit should be lowered to 12 weeks.

I think the way to reduce the number of abortions is to increase social support for pregnant women facing difficult situations, both financial and emotional. It's awful how some people would rather see more abortions or children living in poverty than pay taxes towards helping single mothers in need. Society should work towards creating a positive attitude to motherhood, so that more women will make the choice to keep their babies.

  12. increase rate of thrown away babies

  13. It was outlawed in communist Romania by Nicolae Ceauşescu. After about 20 years of poverty and unrest he was overthrown by a coup and executed. Ironically, most of the angry young people in the mob would have been aborted had the practice not been outlawed.

  14. If Roe vs. Wade were overturned it would give the states the right to decide on a state by state basis whether they would allow abortions.

So there would have to be much more than just a case overturning that decision to make it "illegal".

If Roe was overturned it would affect some states.. mostly "red" states.  If you live in a liberal state... nothing would change.

I don't think we will ever see a day when our Federal government would step in and downright outlaw it for every state.

I think it is an overreaction to think so.

  15. The number of abortions in a given country will not change significantly if abortion is outlawed or decriminalized. However, women in countries where abortion is illegal often turn to unsanitary, dangerous methods that could injure or kill them.

  16. Women would finally learn how important it is to be responsible.

  17. Well, the 1,000,000 legal abortions would probably turn into a couple of thousand illegal abortions of which a few people would die every year, a couple of women would die from birth complications

Welfare spending would go up as would unpaid hospital bills

Amount spent on special needs children from drug addicts and alcoholics would increase, general education expenses would go up too

In about 15 years the crime rate would Go up, college attendance percentages would go down

single motherhood would go up, percentage of men paying child support would go up, number of men jailed for not paying child support would go up

  18. Riots, increases in taxes due to a greater need of welfare and other financial aids, increase in child abuse , high school drop outs, forced marriages...as a result divorce, a greater number of children in need of adoption as well as in foster homes....just to name a few.
