  1. Here's a secret: In the US, there basically are no landing fees. There may be ramp and tiedown fees, but landing is free. Controlled runways and taxiways are the exclusive domain of the FAA; local airport authorities and local businesses cannot charge you a fee for the use of those facilities.

    I've done many a touch and go and full stop landing at a major airport in a little 172. I once spend all day doing them at San Jose International. So long as you don't leave the controlled runways and taxiways, there are no fees.

    Hearing the controller say, "American 109, remain clear of 36, landing traffic a Cessna on short final" is always a trip. Then you get to watch 100 people waiting for you to get out of their way.

    I believe the only exceptions in the US are Los Angeles and DC.


  2. There really is no generalized answer.  Landing, tie-down, and hangar fees vary from airport to airport with little rhyme nor reason.

    By and large, the closer you are to a major metropolitan area, the higher the fees will be.  Also, the airplanes you mention would all tend to be in the lowest price range.

    Out in the rural counties, landing fees tend not to exist, and tie-down fees are minimal.  On the whole, landing fees range from zero to around $25, tie-down fees range from $20 to $100 per night with discounts for extended stays, and hangar fees are anybody's guess.

    I went in with a group of pilots and we built a T-hangar row (8 spaces) and shared the expense.  It cost us about $8,000 each.  Now we each pay the airport authority $16/month to lease the space for the building.  To rent a similar space in an existing hangar would run $75-$150 per month.

    Hangar fees can be much more, depending on where you are and what the circumstances are.

    The only way to know for sure is to call the FBO at your intended airport and ask what is available and what the rates are.

  4. The Seneca, Navajo, and Baron are going to be about the same. The Eclipse, Citation, Learjet, and Gulfstream are going to be higher and the Cessna 300 is going to be the cheapest.

    I've flown a Lancair (now Cessna) 350 and Baron (note there's one R in Baron) into O'Hare. Depending on whether or not I'm picking up or dropping off passengers (it costs more to do one than the other but I can't remember which) it costs me about $130-$150 in the Baron to land at O'Hare. A little less for the Lancair. That's as a private pilot. If you're commercial, you pay more.

    By contrast I just flew down to a small-town airport in Tennessee and the plane was tied down for the weekend and they didn't charge me anything.

    When you ask about hangars I assume you're talking about your cost as a transient, not the monthly rate as others here have assumed. I've paid as much as $100/day to put a small single or twin in a shared hangar while visiting somewhere. I've also had the FBO tell me "don't worry about it -- we'll squeeze you in somewhere". It completely depends on where you're at. And the bigger the plane, the more you'll pay.
