  1. yes, it would be incredibly oppressive and a completely different country.

We wouldn't have the Bill of Rights, which includes ex-post facto laws, the right to bear arms, the freedom of religion, press, speech, the government would be able to house soldiers in our private homes, we would not have trial by jury, we would still have slavery, and we wouldn't have the direct election of senators among all of the other amendments. Those are just the ones I can't think of right now.

  2. It would be a totally different country. Very oppressive.

  3. Try to think about the amendments as patches.  When the Constitution was signed they had no way to know the issues that would come up some 200 years later, so congress had to patch up some problems.

  4. What are you - a moron?

  5. What would you be like with a brain?

    With a brain?

    With a brain?

    With a brain?

    With a brain?

  6. Women and people of color would not be allowed to vote, education and jobs would be doled out unequally ... should I go on?

  7. The United States would have ceased to exist without the Bill or Rights, and there would be a lot of turmoil without the subsequent amendments. There was great reluctance for many to sign the Constitution because it did not have a bill of rights, some insisted upon it. The hold-outs were convinced by others that they needed to get the government established as soon as possible and promised a bill of rights would be drawn up.

The bill of rights is everything that provides the freedoms we are supposed to have. Without them there is none, and no method to address the situation, or fight back against the government. Without the bill of rights the United States would have become a theocracy with the citizens at the mercy of the government.
