What would the US do if California or Texas tried to secede from the country?

Wouldn't the US do exactly what Russia is doing to Georgia. So why doesn't Bush just shut his pie hole?

    actually that would be what Georgia (country) would do regarding S. Ossetia (secessionist region of country)

    or what Serbia (country) was doing regarding Bosnia (secessionist region of country)
