It's a Odyssea bow-front. It's been cycled for two years now. The tank is empty as for fish. I want to get it started up again. The tank has a filter for it but it's a bit weird and noisy. I used to have a AquaClear 50 for it.

  1. I love my Fluval filter on my 50 Gallon. It's a pretty sweet setup! I would definitely recommend it. It's been around for a while and isn't going to get discontinued like some of the newer brands.

  2. try an internal filter like tetra internal filters i have no noise at night when its on.

  3. What about the Fluval 1 Plus Internal Filter  (50 gallons/hour).  Supposed to be very quiet.

I haven't had one of these, but a similar type of filter that is very quiet and efficient.

    See here for some reviews:

  4. Probably a power filter. They are usually quiet. A canister filter, though, would be best. Remember to change the filter cartridge every 2 weeks for a power filter. My guess is that something is wrong with the filter, if it is noisy. Is it making strange gurgling sounds? That either means that the water isn't filled all the way (for most power filters, the water level has to be to the top,) or the filter is broken.
