  1. £300 + the k series engine not good, head will almost certainly need skimming

  2. I would agree - an average of £300 - £400

  3. yes i agree with all the other answers but also have the head pressure tested as well ,also fit new head bolts as they are stretch bolts

    good luck h

  4. Hi that depends on the type engine that is in your car,if its a 214 with a honda engine its worth paying the money to get it fixed,on the other hand if its a rover engine it ain worth getting fixed,I KNOW THIS CAUSE I HAD ONE AND ROVER WOULDNT STAND BY THE WORK,,Rover engines in the 214 or 216 were the worst engine out there and the first time i had ever seen the crank shaft held on by the head bolts..STRANGE..Regards Steve

  5. Once a K series has been hot its scrap and if you have it skimmed your just wasting your money because the quality of the alloy used in this engine is bloody garbage. The head is so light it is unable to pass any excess heat to the coolant and the block is just as bad.So even if you do have the head skimmed the block will be distorted anyway. In general if you have to have a head skimmed its goosed because you are changing the position at which the firing point is initiated and altering the ignition characteristics for that engine.Old engines will cope with this but modern multivalves are critical about compression ratios, mixture levels and thermal stress

  6. Hi, to do this job right it would mean the obvious removing the head getting the skimmed, as the heads are alloy because it has been hot there is a chance that it has to a point, warped, I would also get the Cam Belt, Adjusters + fan & Alternator belt changed at the same time  a price of about £300 To £400 that if you want to do it properly.A bit of advice, don't think because you do not get the head Skimmed that the job is right you might end up getting the head taken off again because of what I have stated ending up with more cost.
