  1. Hey,

I would say it is a bit more but in running you use your whole body which is more tiring and in bmx you mainly use your legs and are always standing which can give you a sore back.

  2. The long accepted "standard"  or rule of thumb is 4 to 1, that is, 4km of cycling is the equivalent of 1km of running.

However, wind velocity and riding speed can vary this substantially.  I've provided you a couple of links below to  more detailed articles on this relationship and the calories burned.  Of course, riding indoors you won't have any wind factor.

Unless you have very little experience getting ready to run 2k shouldn't take much preparation.

I've always been an advocate of training in the activity in which you are going to compete.  Running in the rain won't hurt you, so try that.  Do you live in a part of the world where the rain is constant this time of year?

Best of luck on your run.

  3. When I ran cross country in college our coach used to tell us that the ratio for running to biking is 1:4. Therefore, a 2km run would be an 8 km bike.

However, I don't know if this has to do with calories burned or a certain level of endurance. Either way, you must bike a longer distance than you would have to run to get the same benefits!

  4. In general the energy used to run 1km is double the energy used to ride that distance. So you need to ride around 4km to equal the distance you plan to run.
