  1. Get the movie 2010 the year we return. It shows pretty much exactly in graphic detail what happens. This happens at the end of the movie, when Jupiter has mysteriously gained enough mass to switch on its fusion. Great movie, great scenes and very accurate as far as the space environment goes.


  2.   As the fusion initiated it would produce heat and light and the pressure would restrain the in-falling matter and determine what size star would eventually evolve.

  3. A powerful flash of light, followed by strong solar winds, which blow dust and gases away from the star.

When a star initially starts fusing elements at the beginning of it's life cycle it is a very turbulent process.  Gravity is trying to pull in and then all of a sudden the star will flare up and this goes on for hundreds of thousands of years until the star finally finds its equilibrium where the outward force of energy from fusion in the stars core matches the gravitational pull and the star becomes stable.  But stars are born inside huge clouds of gas light years long, called nebulae.  This is the birthplace of all stars and our sun was formed in such a nebulae probably not to uncommon to the orion nebulae.  Hope this helps.
