  1. About two thirds of what it would be in England. But the services are much worse (street lighting, water and sewerage provision etc etc).

  2. Certainly less than the UK. The cost of food is about 33% cheaper. The rates are minimal compared to the UK. My local rates are €94 per year. THe services we get for that are less than the UK. Our rubbish is in communal bins which are emptied 6 days a week. I much prefer the system here than the UK. Electricity is expensive but on a par with the UK. I use bottle gas which works out less than the UK. I heat the house with a log fire. Logs cost me €70 a square metre. 2 square metres lasts a winter.

On top of that you will need household insurance just the same as the UK. If you live in a rural area you will need transport. Fuel is about 33% cheaper than the UK. The local roads here can be less maintained than the UK, but street lighting is improving. Telephone lines are scarce in some areas. If you haven´t a phone you could be on the waiting list for years before getting one, depending on where you live. I've been here 4 years and still no landline, though I do now have a satellite link.

If you are from the UK and your money is in the UK you should bear in mind is that the pound is falling against the Euro. You will get less for your money which will inevitably make everything more expensive.

  3. Thats not a complete sentence
