What would the professionals do if?

Hi,

what would the mental health professionals do such as key workers, psychiatrists etc if you told them you felt all they did was hurt you and that you wanted to end all contact?

would they care at all or just think, oh well you don't care so neither do we?

Hi, I've read some of your other questions and having been on both sides myself-a professional and sufferer of a mental health problem, I'd say you should try giving your workers a bit more credit ;) I'm sure no one sets out to try and hurt you and Im sorry that you are by them.

If you told your key worker you wanted to end all contact he or she would probably ask you to explain why.  If you could not come to an agreement and resolve the situation then your worker would have no choice but to refer you to another worker.

There are some mental health workers, like in any profession, who are lazy and would just shrug it off but I think those who went into the job for the right reasons would be hurt even if they dont express it.  Its hard not to take something like a client not wanting to see you anymore to heart.

I hope you're relationship with your workers improve.  Remember you have to work together if you're going to recover,its a 2 way thing.

Hard to say really as although I've complained about Support Workers and been allocated different ones I've never actually terminated contract.

I think it would depend on just how professional there are.  I would imagine they would want to know how they have hurt you?  They may also think that you are making a mistake, and/or the hierachy may want you to give a different keyworker a go.  Sometimes the keyworker we have is not the right one for us.

I supposed some might think, well that's one less case to deal with, whereas others would care and may think that they haven't done a good enough job where you are concerned.
