q - 5 = 12 ?

i did what i was suppose to but it didnt come out right!!!

  1. 17 because you can add those 2 numbers that you have and that would be the answer...then put 17 - 5 =12 to see if it make sense

  3. You want to get q by itself on one side of the equation.  If you add something to both sides of an equality, the result has the same meaning.  What can you add to (q - 5) that will result in q?  Add that to the other side as well.

  4. q - 5 = 12   so   12 + 5 = q     Just undo what the question is asking.  If it's asking you to subtract ( - ), add (+).  If it's asking you to multiply (x), divide (and I don't have a button for that).  And vise versa.
