Well, the elephant is larger than the hippo, giving it a higher level of strength. In addition to this, most elephants tusks can be up to  70cm long. However, if the elephant was female, it would have shorter tusks, meaning that the hippo may have an advantage due to its very large teeth on its lower jaw, which are sharper but not longer than the elephants tusks.

Generally, Hippopotamuses tend to weigh less than elephants, so the Elephant will have more weight to use to its advantage, therefore meaning that the Elephant has a higher chance of winning a fight against a Hippo, but it could go either way.

Is this all you can think of?  How one animal would kill another?  You're asking this kind of question all the time.

Rarely do animals of different species "fight", unless, of course one is a predator who is trying to capture the other for food.

The practice of putting two different animals, of any kind, in an enclosure and causing them to fight, has and always will be cruel, thoughtless, stupid, idiotic, and totally illogical.  Man, and his desire for this kind of thing, makes me sick to my stomach.
