The cat truck operates in an area of high rolling resistance, the locomotive operates in much less rolling resistance. I would say this is like comparing apples to oranges. Work it out to where the playing field is even then the horsepower takes the prize. I would put my money on the locomotive.

i work for G.E. . we make locomotives and mining wheels for trucks like that .. the evo would win! no question about it. locomotives are designed to pull, mining trucks are desingned to carry.
