Do you already have the student? Or are they coming for summer/fall? I'm assuming they will be living with you! In general, don't ask "yes" or "no" questions though. Many times exchange students will just say yes, and not really understand what you are asking.

Here are some things:

What will you NOT eat?

What are your favorite activities?

What do you call your parents at home?

What kind of pets do you have?

Describe a typical day at home.

Describe a typical day at school.

Tell me about your friends.

What do you do with your friends?

Tell me about your family. What do your parents do? (Don't be surprised if they're not real sure!)

What would you like to do in (your city)?

Why did you want to be an exchange student?
