What would you consider is a reasonable age to start baby siting?

I've been turned down so many times to baby sitting jobs. That it hit me mabey it was because of my age im 11. What would you consider a resonable age to start baby siting

My thoughts are the 11 is too young to babysit by yourself.  If your mom was there with you to help out in case anything happened then that would be okay, if the child you were watching was 5 years or older.

To watch a child who is 5 years or older on your own I would have to say that 13 or 14 would be a good age.  To watch infants up to 5 years then definately older, say 18.

I would say 12-15, depending on the person of coarse.  I remember starting at age 12 but I know some 14 year olds that I wouldn't want watching my children.

In my opinion, 11 is too young to babysit.  Unless say maybe you're babysitting in your own home and your mother or some other responsible adult is around to help you.  Probably 14 or 15, with experience with children would be a good age.

I would not allow an 11-year-old to babysit either.  It is really too young.  I was 13 when I started sitting, and my oldest daughter was 13 when she started sitting.

In the meantime, however, maybe a stay-at-home mom would hire you as a mother's helper, to play with her little ones while she is home doing other things.  This would give the mom the opportunity to either get her housework done or lie outside in the sun, and at the same time you'd be getting some good experience taking care of kids.

If you do a good job, this same mom will probably hire you as a regular babysitter when you're old enough, and even recommend you to her friends!

11 is a great age.  take a babysitting class at the Red Cross.  be patient.

i stated to babysit when i was 8 but i say 12 or 13 would be a better age to start at
