I'm going to Advanced 9th Grade and I have to write an essay for part of some stupid summer homework. The thing is I'm not sure what would be considered a BRIEF essay at that point. I'm used to essays being about 3-5 paragraphs long, but I'm not sure if less than that would be considered an essay as opposed to simply being paragraphs, and thus I need a second opinion. So I'm requesting your assistance.

Aproximately how many paragraphs should be in a BRIEF essay?

Approximately how many SENTENCES should be in each paragraph?

Thank you very much.

  1. About 3 paragraphs for a brief essay. 100 words for each paragraph. Good luck!

  2. The minimum for an essay is 3 paragraphs, otherwise it's classified as a short answer. For a brief essay, I would say 3 paragraphs - an intro paragraph, main body paragraph, and a concluding paragraph. Good paragraphs should be somewhere in the nature of 7-10 sentences long, with the main body paragraph being on the longer side, since it is your explanatory paragraph.

  3. 3-5 should be enough, thats what i always did when i had to do brief essays for freshman year

@sentences, theres not a set amount, but something low like 3, you know, would be way to little. just type as much as you have and if you dont have much, aim for 6-9

  4. I think a 5 paragraph essay would be brief.  I would not necessarily count sentences, so long as your paragraphs are sufficiently detailed.  5 is the usual guideline - but it's only a guideline.  A complex sentence might count as 2, for example.

  5. A brief essay should be about 3 or 4 paragraphs long. The paragraphs should have 4 or 5 sentences each.

  6. If you type size 12 on microsoft word for 3/4 page should be brief. 3 paragraphs will do. 100 or so words per paragraph
