That's what happened with me and Jimmy Spencer at Dover but we let him eat then my brother got his autograph but the amount of people bothering him, even taking pictures with him while he was eating with his wife was terrible. Would you go and get and autograph or leave him be?

  1. If its him I move to another booth and pretend he is not there. His autograph is not too high on my list to get.

Was Jimmy eating the 5 for $5 deal?(Two of them)

  2. I would probably be too worried about my 1970 Roadrunner sitting in the parking lot with my girlfriend in it.

  3. You did the right thing by letting the guy and his wife eat first....props to you for being respectful!!

  4. Heck yeah get the autograph. It's worth a lot of money.

  5. if it was Kyle Busch id throw an AMP Energy Can at him

  6. My 1st instinct would be run up to him and give him a kiss but since he'd think I was a crazy stalker LOL I'd let him eat and if there was a good opportunity I'd get his autograph!! That happened to us but it was a country singer (Eddie Montgomery) in Danville KY while we were visiting my sister and he actually sat at the table right behide us but we gave him and his family the privacy they needed but it was really cool to see him up that close!!

  7. I would definitely get an autograph and maybe 1 picture. But you were right to wait until he was finished eating.  The other's should have let the man at least eat in peace :D

    Have a good one.

    Lynn

  8. I'd leave him be, that's just tacky!

Your brother did the right thing, time and place for everything.

  9. i lived in hollywood for quite some time and this kind of thing happen quite a lot with quite a few b-list celebrities, musicians, at least one a-lister. and most everytime, what i did was dependent upon the situation.

i got to know a couple of them pretty well by just doing oddball things - i bought george wendt (norm from cheers) a beer at an X concert, and just walked away.  he came over to say thanks and we talked a while and ended up becoming friends for a while as we lived only blocks apart. i lit a cigarette for rebecca gayheart (90210 & The Noxzema Girl) and ended up having a conversation with her at the same concert.

laurie anderson and spalding gray i met when i was the head of the concert series at ucsd, so i got to take them out to dinner after the shows.  i'd usually ask "celebrities" like them to take my picture. it always caught them off guard - but they loved the idea and usually made a moment out of it. i remember spalding gray saying that if allen ginsberg could be a photographer, so could he, so he took my camera, stood up on the middle of the table at a chinese restaurant at 2am, and took my picture.  i wish i still had my collection of pictures of me taken by celebrities. of course, then we'd take a picture together and be on our way.

and some, i've met and remained friends with - mike watt (the minutemen, firehose, iggy and the stooges) and john talley-jones (the urinals, one hundred flowers, radwaste) in particular. i met them either through setting up concerts or working with them, and ended up either meeting at concerts or playing racquetball, or hanging out at the studio as a guest.

al pacino, on the other hand, i ran into talking on his cell phone down in santa monica.  i was outside a store talking on mine and saw him ducked into a corner talking on his.  i waited until both of our converations were over and just went over and said i enjoyed his work. we talked a minute and he was on his way.

as for jimmy spencer, i'd have to walk up to him and either punch him in the nose or ask him to punch me in mine because of the spat between he and my boy kurt.  i think he'd think it was funny and we'd probably chat. i don't really collect autographs, the stories are always much more interesting.

  10. If it was Jimmy Spencer, I'd leave him alone.  Don't really care that much for his autograph.

  11. I'd steal his food. He can afford to buy more. LOL But seriously. I'd like to think I'd be considerate enough to leave him alone so he could have some peace but..... Ya right. After he was done eating I would have to at least get his autograph and if he seemed not to mind, I'd probably ask him to tell some "war stories". I would definately have to shake his hand and thank him for being a part of the greatest sport on earth. Corny but true.

  12. I would tell him I could out drive him any day just to break the monotony. Then I would tell him my beer is better than his too.  And if that's not good enough I would tell him my tennis shoes were faster than his and ask would he car for a foot race?

    It's all about the challenge...!!!

  13. Well sorry I have no idea who this is...

I don't follow the driving you are talking about...

Now if it was a Movie Star or TV Star I actually recognized,

I would go for it, even if I got turned down, cause I would get to be closer than I ever would by keeping my distance...

  14. i would just leave him to enjoy his meal. i live around mooresville nc. where many of the drivers reside and it bugs the heck out of me when i see people bother them, especially if they are with their family or friends. if you have to bug them at least wait till they are getting ready to leave. i hang around with 2 former nfl football players and i know how they try to go unnoticed especially when we are having a meal.

  15. Everyone that said leave him alone was right.  There is a time and a place for everything.  Family time is a precious thing for anyone. I do believe that it is very rude to interrupt anyone eating dinner with their family even for an autograph..

  16. Jimmy Spencer--I'd let the big dog eat.

    LOL

Maybe if I saw him in the parking lot I'd say hello.

  17. Leave them alone.  If you see someone with their family leave them alone.  I have seen Mark Martin at Concord Mills mall a lot with his wife and son.  I'd like to  say something to him, but I consider that his time.  I feel it would be inappropriate to bother him while he is having family time.  If I want an autograph I'll go to a signing or somewhere where he expects to be asked for one.  When you are with family or friends do you want work calling you and buggin you?

  18. Let'em eat..They have a personal life to ya know

  19. How exciting!  I would let them eat their dinner in peace and then when they were done eating I would see if an interaction seemed appropriate.  I wouldn't want to be inconsiderate but I am sure they (drivers) are used to being approached in public.  I would hope if I was at Arby's I would see Matt Kenseth since Arby's is one of his sponsers. =D of course on the ads Matt is always at the drive up...

  20. Let him eat in peace. They get bugged enough. I think it's funny that people think some guy's name on a piece of paper or whatever is actually worth money. Yeah, it's not like they don't ever give anybody else an autograph. There's a time and a place. If I had to, I'd wait and get an autograph outside the restaurant.

  21. I live out here in Calif, we have stars down here in Orange County, we see Cameron Diaz a lot at Fashion Island in Newport Beach with some of her family, I have a friend at E TV, I'm not star struck at all..These people even Jimmy Spencer deserves their privacy.. If I were leaving at the same time or just arrived walking in I might ask for a autograph, but I'd be more likely to just say Hi, great race day show or something like that, I would not bother tham while they were eating thats just so rude. I use to date a Indy car driver a while back, people don;t care they just come up and want something signed or a photo all the time....

    Go Dale Jr & Hms

  22. be considerate, leave his private time with family alone..want an autograph, then contact his fan club..guaranteed you get one

  23. I would leave him be and just eat. Then after he left, I would sit there and cuss myself out for the one and ONLY opportunity I prob. would have ever had to get his autograph and wonder why I had to be so nice all the time.

  24. I know they have a right to privacy, but...  They are public figures, in the media, and all well known.  To some degree, they give up that right to privacy when they choose to go eat in public.  Sure, they have to eat, but if they don't want a barrage of fans at their table, they should hit the drive thru.  On Jimmy Spencer?  I'd leave him alone unless Kenny Wallace was there.

    Go Jr.>>>>

  25. That's tough. I would probably offer him a fry to break the tension lol. Really though, that is one of the situations where I wouldn't know what to do. I'd probably just sit there and keep eating especially if there were a lot of people around. But that's cool you got to see him up close.

  26. i would let him me. He's a human just like everybody else. I would get an autograph when there done eating,

  27. WELL IF IT WAS MY FAVORITE DRIVER I'D PROBABLY GO UP TO HIM HOW CAN YA HELP IT.
