What would you do if someone lied on you?

I have an aquaintance that is very touchy and have shown signs of jealousy. I tried to befriend them anyway - and they responded favorably (so I thought). Anyway, I found out that they lied on me to some very important people telling them that I was irresponsible and nonchalant about the work I had been given. She said that I did things that never occurred. She did not know it would get back to me from the person she reported it to. For reasons, I can't explain, I do not have the opportunity to let the people she lied to know that it is a big fabricated story. I feel crushed and humiliated. Why did she do this, and what should I do?

  1. Some people are sadists. You'll run across them everywhere. You have a right to feel humiliated.

I would get a new job, but don't quit until you have one. I've done that many times and found myself up sh*t creek without a paddle.

  2. face her and talk to her. you really wouldn't know what's going on unless you talked to the people concerned. it's actually better than sulk about it. yeah, you've been lied to and so is everyone. keep in mind that you're not the only one has been lied to so get over it and start fresh. keep in mind the negative stuff she said about you and try your best to be a better person. you don't have to look at it like you've been trampled on but see it as an opportunity for you to be a better person.

  3. i would never talk to that person again.  no need to explain yourself, she knows what she did.

i would start to keep a paper trail of everything i do at work.  like if a mistake occurs, email the person who did it just to let them know they made a mistake. so that way if anything comes back to you, you have the evidence that it wasn't you.

  4. You know they lied to you.  and so they did. Ask your self if you even want to be friend with lier. because I don't.

  5. I'd avoid that person as much as possible and don't tell them anything too personal. Who know when they'll go about spreading stuff about you?
