Question:

What would you do if someone saved your life?

Back in February my actions helped to save the life of a woman trapped under a bus. This was 5 months ago. The lady in question spent a couple of months in hospital and has been home for a couple of months.

I have still yet to receive any thanks for helping her. I would do exactly the same if it happened again.

What are your thoughts? Personally I would have thanked the person at the very earliest oppurtunity.

  1. She may still be a little traumatized.  Good job.

  2. Yes of course I would thank my life saver.. and probably I would want to do more than just that .. but ... if I saved a life.. if I was brave enough to do that.. then like so many brave and courageous people who do that.. they say.. they want nothing out of that...  the biggest gift should be the gift you gave to that woman and in turn you gave to yourself.. you are a hero.. even if she doesn't seem to see it that way,.. not a lot of us have either got the guts or the opportunity of being heroes so knowing what you are capable of in a moment when it matters.. that you can take control and help save a life.. that should give you such a big boost of confidence and your family must be so proud of you... and everyone who matters.. that this is your real ''Thank you'' ...  you are extra special for being a hero and that you say it doesn't change things.. you would do it again.. that you don't become arrogant now and that you remain you.. . that is the greatest gift... xxxx

  3. well, you don't know the person's circumstances or whatever.  you didn't do it for the thanks.  let it go.  her life may be very difficult and thanking you not at the top of her priority list.  there could be many other reasons.  you could contact her to check and see how she is - after all she is the one who was hurt and may wonder why you don't seem to care about her well being???  There could be cultural issues etc.

  4. Yea, she should thank you entirely because you saved her life after all. But, maybe she doesn't recall who you were. She's probablly so grateful you saved her though. You could send her a card asking if she's feeling ok. Maybe bring up the fact you rescued her in a kind matter of course. You should feel great that you helped this woman with or with out a thank you.

  5. I agree that  a "thank you" is deserved.

However, the accident was obviously serious and she's still recovering. Writing a thank you note is probably not her biggest problem today or tomorrow. It make be a while before she's able to think about such things.

But even if she never says "thank you" to you personally, know that you did the right thing and continue to do the right thing. You don't do the right thing because someone might thank you; you do it because it's the thing to do.

And by the way, I thank you for having the courage to pitch in and help. Everyone should be like that.

  6. I would thank my hero ( male or female) with a card and dinner

  7. Your a good person and you deserve to be commended for your actions on that day.  God bless you and your strength and wisdom for the heroic act you did.  This woman is suffering now and is probably depressed and questioning even her existence on Earth, when  you have a near death exp. like that things change.  You did well my friend and you did it because of who you are and the way you were raised.  I hope you went and thanked your folks for raising such a wonderful person.

I got one for you..... When I was 15 yrs old I took the dog out for his nightly  walk and saw two men running from my neighbors house with bags in their hands, they ran to a parked car and sped away.  I got the license plate number and the make of the car.  Never really thought about it till the next morning when the cops were across the street, I went over gave the police the information (the people who owned the place were away)  They caught the two returned all there stuff and the neighbors NEVER said a thank you or anything.  I got a Citizens of the year Award and one of the Detectives on the Police force saw me out one night for dinner with a friend and paid for my meal.

    So go figure!
