  1. I slow down.

Once had a cop tailgating me down a twisty-turning 2 lane road. I slowed way down. Regular speed limit - 35 mph... my speed - 15 mph.

He got close enough to my bumper I could see who it was. Turns out it was a friend of my Dad's I wasn't fond of. I continued at 15 mph until he not only got off my bumper but turned off the road.

    :)

  2. I had someone tailgating me today, I drove slower

  3. slam on the brakes and hold on

  4. I know this isn't going to sound nice, but I would give them the middle finger.

  5. Drive slower.  If they try to change lanes, change lanes in front of them.  If they do change lanes, speed up and pass them.

Punk them out in any way you can.

  6. put on emergency lights and drive slower.

  7. I slow way down and mouth into the rear view to back off.  When they do, I let them pass.

  8. I step on the brake, drive slower, and sometimes wave at them with the appropriate digit.  I really, really hate people who try to bully me when I'm driving down the road minding my own business.  If I am so d**n annoying, get away from me.

  9. I change lanes. if they are very dangerous I will  call the police to come and get them.

  10. If I can change lanes safely and get back into the lane I need to be in, I'll move. It's not worth the headache. However if I'm driving at an ok speed and they can go around but, but choose to be a jerk, I just ignore them. Sometimes I'll go slower if I'm not in a hurry - but I rarely do that.

  11. i put on turn signal and pull over to side as soon as I can, so they  can pass.

If they want to drive faster than posted speed limit, or faster than i think is wise, I let them.  i just want them to be Far Away from me.

Sometimes I speed up, though, so they won't get crazy and try some really risky passing.

Finger-flipping is too risky, since the other driver is already irritated and has a large heavy weapon to hand.

  12. I would pull over and slow down so they could pass me. They're happy now, and I can stop being irritated by them.

  13. It's not worth the hassle to encourage their road rage, but if I get really annoyed and it's during the day, I'll flip on and off my lights so he'll think I'm hitting the brakes.  If I'm driving slowly and I get a change I'll pull over to let them pass, especially if I'm driving in an area I'm not familiar with.

  14. Just change lane to let them pass you... why aggravate yourself?  Don't let them jeopardize your safety.  Your life is so much more precious than those low-life.  Let them hurry up and crash and burn if that's what they want to do.  Just don't harm anyone else on their way.

  15. If I'm in the left most lane, I get over to the right.  Otherwise, I just ignore them.

  16. If your driving the speed limit, wait for a safe place to pull over and let them by.

  17. Drive slower, keep my foot on the gas so when I hit the brake pedal making the lights come on he doesn't hit me.

  18. drive slower

  19. It depends.

If I'm not doing anything wrong, I will either continue at my present speed and hope they pass me, or move to a slower lane and let them pass.  Safety comes first -- not only mine, but others' sharing the road with me.  I don't want to make the tailgater angrier and possibly cause an accident or road rage incident.

If I'm indeed doing something wrong, I will move to a slower lane to let them pass, and wave to signal I am sorry.

If they continue to tailgate and honk at me, I will call the CHP and report them right away.

I would not slow down or step on my brakes.

    A funny incident:

I was going the speed limit (30 mph in a 30 mph residential zone), going downhill, on a foggy night.  A car sped up behind me, honked, and swerved and passed me and the car in front of me.  Too bad for them that the car in front of me was a patrol car.  I must admit I was grinning ear to ear as I saw the flashing lights and the cars pulling to the side of the road.
