What would you do if you find 80 bucks on the floor?

Would u try to return it to one lost it? Or would you keep it? The money was lost in one floor of student dorm.

I would keep it.   Because 90% of the time if you try to return it, someone will falsely claim it, and they have even less of a right to the money as you.

Now if it was $1,000+ ... that's a whole new ballgame.

If I knew who lost it I would return it.  However, you can't go ask everyone in the dorm "did you lose any money?" Because then people would take it just to be greedy.  I would hold onto it and if I hear people talking and saying that so and so lost money, then I'd return it....  Give it a couple weeks before you claim it as your own.

I would have someone announce that some amount of money was found, and to claim it, they need to tell the main office what bills and how much.  Give it about a week or two, if no one claims it, give it to a chairty or spend it. At least you would've tried.

Frankly speaking, I would be tempted to keep the money.  However, if I thought about it more seriously, I would return to the person concerned since it is probably a student who would be facing a shortage of cash because he had lost the money.

If it was out all by itself without an ID, I'd go around to see if someone lost $80. And in a student dorm, someone would claim it easy so using it for myself in that situaton would not be an option, lol.

However if it was unindentified in a parking lot or a public street, I'd first have to see if there's anyone around who look like they were starting to go down the street and see if it was theirs. If not, I'd might as well take it. Even if you try to do the honest thing, there's so many people in that situation that will lie about it being theirs.

In fact, the first person you ask, is going to tell you, it's theirs even if it isn't.

there are so many people, ask around to see if anyone has lost money, but don't say how much. when someone tries to claim it, ask them what they lost. if they say 80 dollars, then it's probly their money.

Keep it, announce you found "some money" and the true owner will know how much they lost AND what bills. Take the names of all people and the one with the right answer return it to them. If no one comes forward do what you wish with it.

At first I was going to say keep it because that is just how I am but then I read on the floor of a student dorm which means I might know the person who lost it so I guess I would turn it in. It would be very hard though, I love money. :)

It's very hard to find out who lost it. If you put up an add you'll have tons of people coming but you won't know who the real owner is. It would be best to wait for a while. Perhaps the person who lost will come out of own accord to ask wether someone found it. Then you'll know for sure that it isn't a fraud.
