What would you do if you found a journal on a park bench?

You find a journal on a park bench, no one is around. You flip through it, and judging by the handwriting, you think it belongs to a girl. You don't see an address or name, but you do find a picture of a guy with a name on the back of it (a guy's name). You also find a article, printed off from a computer, from a weekly newspaper's web site. The article is written by the same name on the back of the photo.

First of all, do you read the journal, and why?

Then, regardless of whether you read it:

Do you leave the journal and walk away?

Do you throw it out?

Do you take it home and read it?

Do you try to contact the guy in the picture?

What do you do??????

  1. Take it home, contact the guy but do not tell him about the journal.  Keep the journal in the possiblility that some day you might run into the girl.  If I do, I give it back.  She will probably feel her privacy has been violated but then again, she may be the kind of person who values her journals and hangs onto them for years to read them again years later and see how much she has grown, how life was like then, etc.

I am that way and would like it if someone did that for me, God forbid I ever do something as foolish as leave my journal out in public like that.  :P

  2. I would read through the journal and then set it back on the bench because the person will probably come back for it.
